Welcome!

Thank you for visiting the Official Blog Spot for AIS Alum. This Blog was created for the AIS Alum to keep in contact with one another. We encourage you to share this web address with other graduates from the ID Department at AIS that you may still be in contact with. Here we will be able to share what is going on in our careers, announce and coordinate upcoming events and continue networking while we are out in the field.

My name is Dante and as your moderator I will maintain the blog and modify it based on the groups input. Uwe Bergk (the brainchild of this blog) will also be an active participant in this group so that we may give him updates on how well our education prepared us for work in the industry.

2008 Alumni Show - REMINDER

Just a quick reminder - the 2008 Alumni Show is approaching fast!

The show opens on June 9th, 2008 - the deadline for getting artwork in is May 30th, but of course, I will be accepting work up to the day of the show, as always.

Artwork may be dropped off at the South Campus building (main entrance/2323 Elliott Ave) at the reception desk, or with me directly in the North Campus (2601 Elliott Ave).

Again, please submit your fine or commercial art, video reel, animation, interior design, fashion art, sound design, or any creative expression. This show is a celebration of the alumni, and always presents an eclectic and dynamic variety of great artistry.

Thank you so much - and don't hesitate to write or call with questions.

I look forward to seeing your work in the show!

Product Runway 2008

Congratulations to the IDCW for throwing a fabulous even this year. The first annual runway show appropriately named Product Runway occurred on May 2nd at the Naval Center on Lake Union where the models strutted their stuff to a SOLD OUT crowd. I was a participant in the runway show and was the team leader for Team Bassetti and had a fabulous groups (comprised of some of our very own alumni). Big shout out to my team Sabrina Sperry, Erin Lesinski, Heather Dixon, Jeanette Chen and our Product Rep Wiesia Dlugosz with Inscape Office Solutions on a fabulous job. Equally so a big shout out to all participating members of the AIS blog and all whom attended.

19 teams of Pacific Northwest Architects and Designers used interior finish materials to create couture outfits.
Part runway fashion show, part theatrical production and part indulgence for guests, Product Runway is the showcase for innovative and creative design, and the fashion event of the year!

Know of any Entry Level Positions?

Hello to all Grads! I hope everyone is doing well.

I had a friend contact me today in search of an entry level position. She started at Ai and graduated from Harrington School of Design in Chicago. She is finishing her masters in sustainable design and illumination after spending several years in Sydney Australia. She has managed a design showroom for a few years and is looking for any entry level positions here in Seattle. She has moved back to the US and is looking for design work.

Do you know of any? Please contact me if you do!

Thanks to all,
Erin

TASTE of Success!

As you all know we had our our first Annual Blog Meeting and thanks to your participation it went off without a hitch. Sadly not all members could make it to the event so here is a little hint of what the night had in store.

We all caught up and had mostly a social hour paired with wine and a few appetizers. Our gracious host Uwe helped to enhance the evening with the first comp'd drink of the night. We had a fairly large turn out for the night. Pictured below are a majority of the attendees.

We discussed a few strategies to make the blog more of a resource for all members. Soon I will be working to generate new links within the blog to help existing and new members with setting up personal profile information, uploading pictures and posting topics of their own. I am pleased to see we are well on our way to having a robust and diversely populated Interior Design Social Network. I will be sending out updates as soon as I am able to generate them.

Thanks to all who made it out and those who made an effort to attend. We hope to see all of you at the next meeting.
